IAN HENRY DUNCAN

18 November 1942 – 17 June 2008

There was no stopping Ian from his visits to the Rusoord Plumstead retirement village where he and Kosmos, the 4 legged love of his life made their weekly rounds with the residents.

Not only would Ian share his beloved pooch with them all, he also spent quality time chatting, joking and generally solving the most complex problems of the world – in just over an a hour or so!  Ian was a voracious reader as well and was often known to share books and swap titles for future reference at Rusoord.

Ian’s practical, pragmatic and salt-of-the earth nature is what stood out most for his family and among his many friends. When the going gets tough, the tough get going seemed to be Ian’s mantra.  He added great value to many, many lives also facing terminal illness, before he himself, succumbed to cancer.

His send-off at St Stephen’s church Pinelands, where he had married Pamela way back when, was full – and in a humorous gesture of fond farewell, who else to play Ian out than Credence Clearwater Revival!

PAT extends its sympathy to Pam, Abigail and Phillipa – and of course to Kosmos, who also meant the world to Ian, an uncommonly good man indeed.
