PAT ANNUAL ICE CREAM PARTY COMBINED EFFORTS WINS THE OCCASION!
The 15th March dawned bright and sunny with a howling south-easter that threatened to blow all of us off our feet. However, not even the wind could dampen the excitement of the residents and patients at Includid Group Homes, and Alexandra Hospital. They were still savouring the feast awaiting them at the recreation hall when a roar of engines had everyone rushing outside, just in time to see a long and gleaming parade of Harley Davidson motor bikers pulling up!
Everyone milled around admiring these beautiful machines until the first resident was loaded up for a ride and then everyone clamoured for a turn. The bikers were brilliant, helping people on and off, riding their passengers around the expansive hospital grounds. And for those unable to sit tight on the back, a long and wistful sit on the driver’s seat was arranged.
Later, everyone headed back to the hall, and were entertained by Sharon Clifton who sang and played her guitar. The hall was alive with her vibrant music and dancing feet.
PAT was well represented by both 4 legged and 2 legged PAT and Rotary members and naturally, the dogs loved all the fuss and fun.
Once again, each resident received a goody bag at the end of the day and our special thanks go to Rotary Sea Point, who co-hosted the event and arranged for the hunky Harley Davidson’s and the entertainment.
PAT also extends its sincerest thanks to all the sponsors who so generously came to the party and provided the goody bag contents, the snacks and drinks.
Last but by no means least, a very special thank you to CAS Ice Cream (Christine Spheris) for the abundant supply of ice creams that everyone really enjoyed. (And that includes a couple of the dogs!)
